Mariana Cortes brand of innerwear is causing a stir. The line called Juana de Arco translating to "Joan of Arc" mirrors the spirit and culture of Argentinia. The whimsical underwear comes in a broad spectrum of colors. It's not enough to have a multicolor polka-dot thong, it also has different colors for the hem and lining. These bottoms, which Cortes has dually called “Your South,” retail at $25 and up. Cortes provides diversity in her collection, everything from thongs to briefs, bikini bottoms to granny panties available in 13 silhouettes.

Cortes designs from her fabulous boutique on El Salvador Street in Palermo, a district in Buenos Aires. Business initially was hard due to the country’s economic hardships. Cortes refers to the crisis of 2001. “Not many people would come and visit. Now Juan de Arco has developed into a fully fledged brand and now includes bra tops, camis and loungwear, “Your North.” Cortes orchestrated her company in order to create more jobs in a unemployment crisis. One third of the Palermo boutique is a white wall that features work of local up and coming artists. “The art world nourishes me,” said Cortes. The demand for this line of sexy fun lingerie is spreading worldwide. In
November, Cortes opened her first boutique in Barcelona and another in Tokyo late last month.
